does the taper core make a difference or is it just to lower the action?

I just got my bartolini installed and it does sound amazing, very clear.
does anybody have any comments about other pickups
i wanted to get something different like CITRON, KENT ARMSRONG or DELANO Pickups but
i've never played a bass with any of those pickups so i decided to just get what I know.

I agree, that is very good advice what i did is, I bought a book for double bass and i use to get to know the electric fretless fingerboard, it could be a good reference. plus the scales advice was excellent, you could record the scales if you have a keyboard and play along with it. scales, scales, ...

I have a SEIKO ST-747
And works fine for the fretless and for the upright bass.
If you aren't sure about your tuner, maybe you could go to a music store and try different ones to see if there are any differences.
