Hey, JacoFreak! Thanks for the post, man! There are several songs that I want to run through this program, Jaco's lines included. Even though Jaco's bass is well-heard in the mix on those recordings, but isolating them will be great. It's almost like being able to see into that genius mind of his! I've always been a big fan of him, not only for his playing, but also for his composing skills and his ability to write amazing songs. Thanks again for this and welcome to the fretless forum family!

Audacity (Freeware, Versions Win/Linux other OS) can do it smoothly with
-> effects-> slower tempo =slows down while keeping pitch

if thats not enough

->effects-> bass enhance or high cut or low pass

plus you can cut precisely (more precise than you'll ever need.
press play once marked to be sure or correct your choice)
any snippet and paste them to a "here's the undefinable part-song"
in almost any sound format of almost any quality.
