*********************************************I wanna buy a really great fretless bass from ebay but I don't have much to spend. I'm not sure what kind of strings to put on it, but when I do get new strings I'll need to do a set-up.
I'm interested in knowing what kind of bass and amp the most popular fretless bassists use.
It might be advantageous to modify my current bass into a fretless, or coat the fingerboard because I think my tone might improve.
Tone is pretty important so I approach the subject from several angles.
Free stuff is good.

*********************************I still haven't found the bass I'm looking for, my current bass has a few problems and I'm interested in learning how to fix it. I'm also getting more interested in the technical aspects of fretless such as technique, musical concepts, and hardware concerns. Did I mention FREE is good?
One of the things I like about this forum is the social aspect, talking to other fretless players. I also like learning about Jaco who may be the most important fretless player ever, and the history of the instrument.
I'm still looking for that great fretless bass, but it needs to be inexpensive.
