My New Sadowsky NYC Fretless

Post by bassclef » Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:53 pm

Almost 8 months to the day that I ordered it....it arrived yesterday! So far it has gone far beyond my wildest expectations!

After getting my first Sadowsky around 9 months ago (a 1988 NYC standard 4), I got the bug and started to GAS for a fretless to go with my fretted. Well that time has come!

I've only spent a few hours so far playing her, but man does it sound sweet. I plan to do allot of experimenting this weekend to learn all she can do. The Vintage Tone Control is new to me (my '88 Sadosky does not have it), so I need to take some time to really dial her in!

The specs:

Body: Flamed Spalted Maple over Swamp Ash
Neck: Maple with Fretless Ebony Fretboard....no front dots
Pickups: Sadowsky Humcancelling, in 70's location
Controls: Vol/Pan/VTC/Treble-Bass Boost (stacked)

Also they reshaped the neck to match my '88 Sadowsky, which is a bit thinner then the current models.

And the man himself, Roger Sadowsky!

Smack, Drool, Slurp.

That's a tasty pair of mighty fine basses!

Lucky skunk.
One good note makes my day.

Absolutely stunning looking bass. I think spalted maple is slowly becoming one of my favorite top woods. Enjoy and let us know how she plays and sounds.
