Budget fretless setup.

Post by Dave8 » Wed Oct 12, 2011 10:33 am

Hi all Im totally new to this forum and also the fretless bass. Id just like a few ideas on a budget setup, its really just for home use and to get a feel for the instrument. My thoughts after reading various reviews are a Squire VM Jazz fretless and for an amp a line6 lowdown LD15. Does anyone have any other ideas? And I know the first thought is "why dont you go to a music store and try some out?", well its not that simple as I live on the Shetland Isles so its mail order for me Im afraid and thats why Ill value your opinions and thoughts on this.
Thanks
Dave

That actually sounds like a pretty good starter fretless rig.

The Fender Squire Modified Jazz fretless is supposed to be good too.

Asian basses are much better now than in years past. If you go in that direction look for one with an Ebonal fingerboard. This hard man made material should be great for Mwah.

I shop on eBay and have received used several basses delivered to my door that are keepers and great values.
One good note makes my day.
