Need Suggestion for Which Bass to Buy

Hey Bass World, have been a bass player for a couple of years (fretted). I learned bass originally on upright in college, so want to make the leap to fretless electric. Just sold my electric and don't know what fretless to buy. There are no fretless guitars in my city music stores (lame). I play in a trio, mostly funk and jazz stuff. I play more James Jamerson style, but I like to slap sometimes in a song as well.

I am looking for a bass without the fret lines on the neck. Otherwise, not picky. I have about $500. Any suggestions as to what I should look at online.
