getting more out of your amp.

Post by redbeardred » Sun Oct 31, 2010 6:34 pm

i was at a guys home studio and he had an 'isolation riser' under a peavey 15" combo. something like this.

i didn't want to spend 50 bucks so i went to a fabric store and got a 5 inch thick piece of foam and put my ampeg on it. it was still 30 bucks and i got something bigger then what i needed incase i get a bigger amp.

if you want to add a little clearity, alot of volume and avoid room buzz it works.

Agree completely, the Auralex product. or home-made amp stand, provides a clear sonic improvement.

I considered gluing some gardening knee pads (dense foam) to a piece of 1/2" ply or OSB. Instead I spent the money and bought Auralex stands.

They do work to reduce sympathetic low frequency induction into the floor or stage, dramatically reducing sonic "mud".

One good note makes my day.
