After a year of ownership I decided to make some drastic changes to the body. The original body shape had very “”hard”” lines and sharp corners in the contours, much like a “”slab”” P-Bass. After removing the red finish, I re-carved all the contours to give it a more rounded, organic look and feel. At this time I also shortened the lower horn. Underneath the cherry finish was a very nicely figured ash body, so I stained it to bring out the figuring. Next, I removed the frets and inlaid maple veneer in the slots, cut a new nut, refinished the fingerboard and replaced the original electronics with the Steve Bailey Fundamental Fretless pre-amp from Seymour Duncan. Now it’s truly one of a kind.”
