I ripped the frets out because I had just heard of Jaco. Then I decided to take the paint off for a natural finish, but found sunburst underneath the black. What a fortuitous coincidence! I purposely over sanded it to give it that road worn look. This is my favorite bass because I’m the biggest Jaco wannabe I know (I play the bridge pickup exclusively). If only the fretboard was rosewood…
