Bass Details:
Carvin Custom Shop Bunny Brunel 5 String Fretless Bass
Model year 2007 (ish?)
Tweed case (kept my own case in the trade)
Flamed maple top
Green stain (not my doing, I’d have ordered amber or clear)
Ebony fingerboard
Gold hardware
EMG active pickups
Bunny Brunel long horned body, asymmetrical neck profile.
I always use Carvin flat wound strings as other brands don’t have the right gauges or stay in tune (especially the A string for some strange reason) Not sure why but Rotosound flat wound strings are TERRIBLE. Got it in a straight across swap for a Carvin Icon 5 string fretted custom shop tobacco sunburst quilted top bass model year 2007. Guy I traded with Josh, ordered it custom from Carvin as a beginner and was said it was too much bass to learn on. My Icon was also pictured in the 2007 catalog. Carvin often uses custom orders for catalog pics I guess. Strings were ancient and false but a fresh set of strings proved intonation and setup to be spot on. Both of us were super pleased with the trade–he got his frets, I got rid of them! BB is lighter than the Icon too. Not sure what I’d do if anything happens to the green BB fretless bass as it would be very hard to replace. (Other bass player in the band plays a Custom Carvin BB Koa 4 string fretless and has similar worries). I transitioned from playing violin/viola in Symphony and pickup gigs with classic Country touring bar bands to a 1980 blonde Rick 4001 fretted bass playing punk rock, eclectic rock, and reggae in 1980. Way more fun and always the only girl on the stage. ;-D – Laurie
