comments:
Originally a Japanese stock black fretless Jazz Bass bought in septembre 1993, I started modifying it in 2007. I sold off the whole body attached to a fretted P bass neck I got from another project and bought Telecaster hollow body to fit it on. It had 2 Jazz pickups and piezo on the bridge. It turned out bad so I sold the hollow body alone and bought a Mexican Fender active Jazz Bass body off eBay. And VoilĂ ! I had it setup to my taste and it’s a real killer bass, the neck has always been soft, narrow and fast. Piezo needs active but sucks out the power very quickly. You can hear a lot of noise of the fingers and it sounds nothing like an upright bass, so I rarely use it and prefer magnetic pickups in passive mode. Tone control is a sort of tone styler with 4 positions.
