It has the scars to prove it! The pickguard is a custom made aluminum, scary lookin’ scalloped edged thing with the number 13 cut out of it (in reference to FLooR13, the band I use the fretless in most.) According to Ed Roman, this particular year of the Japanese built Fender basses were superior to their American made cousins, and I have to agree! This is the sweetest sounding and playing fretless I have ever laid my hands on (and I have played a fair number of ones in the $2000-$5000 range) I have it set up with Fender Black Nylon Tapewound strings, which I highly recommend!
